This is utterly terrible, 1 more life than healing salve, sorcery rather than instant, and no application to saving creatures? There may be some synergy with the other W cards, but probably won't be playable even with a deck full of those. Maybe change to a mini Timely Reinforcements? 1 1/1 solder and 3 life for 1W with no conditional clauses?

Yes but in the context of the set it might actually be good. With enough cards that trigger of lifegain in your deck then this might become playable. Think how in Mirrodin the value of cards like Deconstruct shoot up because of the environment.

This card is the divining rod for "lifegain matters". If there are decks that would windmill it 9th pick then the theme is working!
