I love how exactly like Tarmogoyf this is secretly a U card and basically useless to the (traditional version of) the color it is in.

this card is hard to work out - i like it - although i dont get it
Ross Miles · 2012-06-01 12:07:23
Louis read it as "gets big when you are winning the race" and I read it as "dies when you are winning the race". Which is right?
Thomas Baker · 2012-06-01 21:13:42
Actually it turns out Louis read it as "always big unless life totals are the same". Which is even crazier and beyond broken. So definitely need some clarity here! I like it that it dies if you ever get 2 points of life ahead or more.
Thomas Baker · 2012-06-01 21:15:10
Okay basically it is always positive. So if I'm on 10 and you are on 20 it is a 10/11. Same if life totals are reversed. If I'm on 5 and your on 3, its only a 2/3. So yes, probably massive a lot of the time. It was in here as an answer to lifegain decks, as it basically one shots them down to your life then is a 0/1 for a while.
Simon O'Keeffe · 2012-06-01 22:44:14
So the one-shotting them down to your life I like, love even, although it is very very powerful. But it can't always be positive otherwise you can t1 burn them to the face, t2 this guy, t3 burn them again or burn the blocker and you have basically won the game because you have something like a 6/7 that gets bigger when you damage your opponent! I think he should *die* when you have more life than your opponent. The +1 even makes that happen precisely the moment you have more life than them! Does that make it unplayable in the actual context we have of Limited?
Thomas Baker · 2012-06-02 07:29:38
Okay reworded to not always be busted. Wording might still need a little work
Simon O'Keeffe · 2012-06-02 09:44:51
The "fixed" version of this went *last* in 5-man draft with two R players. May have overfixed it. Both R players were drafting combo decks with no interest in a big man. May still be good in the right deck but not sure if the right deck exists.
Thomas Baker · 2012-06-03 20:25:24
Yeah, I don't think this guy fits in with what red is trying to do in this format. With so much competition for a rare slot, I think we just retire him.
