We made guys with a similar 'death' ability at the same time! Mine has the 'from anywhere' ability - might be too good for 3 life though!

Do white cards normally have 'death' abilities?

I like this far more than the lifelink creatures because it creates combat-phase tension. Do you block it and enable Soulsong for your opponent or do you keep taking two damage? With (for example) the 2/1 lifelinker there is none of that tension.

Academy Rector, Archon of Justice, Doomed Traveler, Mausoleum Guard are all notable examples and all really cool! :) I think we're good there. He's a pretty good guy to have when you have Break the Twin Grave and a single Human or Cleric in the bin.
