Yeah I think common is right for this. Plenty of these affects have been common before: Crushing Vines, Elvish Skysweeper, Gloomwidow's Feast, Pistus Strike

need to have this effect at common, just not sure I like the cost. Unless the set has a lot of big flyers (like AVR) then it's just too expensive. Most non-rare flyers are small, and cost 3-5, so in general you're losing mana to play this, and you don't get much upside as they're going to have 3 toughness or so. tl/dr - this will never get played as it's too expensive I think this can live at 2G

I suppose since there are no massive flyers this can get a cost reduction. The lower cost also helps with Soulsong etc.
