So we know Yawgmoth's Bargain and Necropotence are too good, but I imagine there is a combination of X and Y values that make this kind of card fine. I imagine almost any X less than 4 where Y=1 is broken, but it gets interesting when you up the Y value, and you have to draw your cards in chunks. I'd be tempted to start at "Pay 5 life: Draw 3 cards." Thoughts?

Playing with fire! At 5 life for 3 cards if you get this down on 20 life you pretty much win the game. Is that OK for a 5 mana enchantment that doesn't affect the board? If I had to guess I'd say it's overpowered but we can test it.

I guess the mana cost is also a variable we can play with. The goal of the card is to be one of the narrow but powerful cards you could draft around. Necro and Bargain don't go in every deck because their mana costs are clunky, but once in play they are very efficient resource converters. I was trying to tackle this from the other side, make it a little easier to play, but make the resource conversion worse..

The best thing about this is that it makes no sense at all on the main screen! This also seems like it would be an awesome wedge rare (probably BUG) rather than a mono-black option since it's always going to be good and makes you want to play that wedge.

Hmm, I can't easily see what would make it green or blue without changing the card a lot. Green card drawing is all creature based pretty much, or tied to lands, and blue card drawing rarely has additional costs.
