I'm claiming Immolate as 'sacrifice another creature' rather than itself. Convince me otherwise Baker!

I think I agree with Baker on this one, and I think it will still work fine. Might actually be quite close to transfigure in that you will need the creature to have reasonable stats on its own if it's Immolate ability is pretty minor. In this instance I think the Phalanx having to immolate itself is really strong. Attack once and then immolate and you have 10 damage! Also immolate could be a really strong ability in conjunction with flash creatures. Which WBR will not have many at all I imagine.

The problem with having to sacrifice itself though is that you are left with no combo opportunities. Consider the Phalanx here. If it keeps the ability above it combos with Haunt creatures, Farcry (as it's a form of token making) and Delve (because those creatures have a higher mana cost than you actually pay). If it uses Baker's version it does none of those things. I'd think we could stretch the colour pie for the sake of more interesting gameplay.

I suppose the most flexible wording for this ability is "Immolate -- When ~ enters the battlefield you may sacrifice a creature. If you do X."
