One wedge has to be the defensive one and these colours do tend to have a lot of walls!

This card not R!

I direct you to Wall of Stone. Old card but even recently (Rise for example) Red gets in on the Defenders theme far more than Black or Green.
Kieran Symington · 2014-03-28 08:28:15
I think it is fine in red. I think with wedges/shards it is inevitable that the colour pie gets stretched a little, especially for red which is very one-dimensional compared to other colours. I would be tempted to drop this to a 1/6 and give it haunt, with the haunted creature getting defender and flying. That might make it a bit obnoxious for board stalls though. First it blocks your best guy for ages, then if you kill it it turns your best guy into a defender, or creates another big flying defender to battle through.

That would be a pretty sweet uncommon. May have to do that and bump the rarity up. Designing elegant wedge commons is hard though!
Kieran Symington · 2014-03-28 15:44:31
We probably only need one for each wedge, though, which makes me think we can push until we fine true three color cards. Even if they are just a keyword sandwich I think that's better than tagging on a color that has no meaning. R only gets flying on dragons and it doesn't have Defender and it doesn't get Spirits and it isn't noble and it has P > T. This is actually the antithesis of a red card!
Thomas Baker · 2014-03-28 23:39:47
Alright, alright, it does get Defenders. But I still think it's pretty out there for a R card especially as you wouldn't bat an eyelid at it as UW.
Thomas Baker · 2014-03-28 23:40:27
(Playtesting) Shuts down an awful lot of things. Not sure we would do this at common?
Thomas Baker · 2014-04-13 02:42:34
(Playtesting) Fairly dispiriting to play against but vulnerable to deathtouch and Banisher Ring.
Thomas Baker · 2014-04-14 03:16:52
(Playtesting) "Why would you make this?" / "That's hilarious".
Thomas Baker · 2014-04-16 18:29:41
The fact that this card seems to generate such strong reactions is a great feather in its cap in my eyes!
Simon O'Keeffe · 2014-04-16 22:35:02
Pretty sure it's going to be unpleasant to play against. I already think of it as having Shroud even though it doesn't.
Thomas Baker · 2014-04-17 01:19:44
I don't really understand why people tend not to like big walls but are fine with tappers even though they are basically the same except the wall is strictly worse because you don't end up with a tapped creature if you don't attack and it dies to Deathtouch and power pumping effects.
Kieran Symington · 2014-04-18 08:43:51
Tappers die to burn? Tappers aren't active the turn they get played? Your point is fair, though.
