Empower mana fixer to help with low land opening hands. Not sure the empower templating is good here though! Also tempted to make the Empower a sacrifice cost and put the land into play a-la Sakura-Tribe Elder.

A 1/1 is a pretty worthless creature though. With 2 power it's at least relevant on the board. Would an uncommon 2/1 for G be ridiculously OP?

2/1 for C with upside is not unheard of. Tormented Hero and Dryad Militant are both uncommons. Also compare Basking Rootwalla, War Falcon, Loyal Pegasus (all commons). A bit like Goblin Patrol the G interrupts playing a two drop. If you have the aggro start you probably don't even pay it.

People play 1/1 creatures with useful abilities all the time. Compare this to Sakura Tribe Elder. Splits the cost across two turns, but has to put land in your hand and costs GG instead of 1G. Still provides a mini fog. So it compares fairly evenly if not amazingly but STE was pretty good. Regarding a 2/1 for G, probably unusual for Green, much more common in White and Red, but I think we could try it.
