Nothing about this card is very G. And the -2/-2 could be oppressive.

I think the battlemages really should be 'classic' 1 mana per ability creatures anyway. The abilities don't even need to be that amazing because you have options (though the Shards ones all had one amazing ability and one okay one, except for poor Bant Battlemage with its two almost identically sucky ones).
